Packers vs. Niners - It's On...Again...
This isn’t true but it does feel like whenever we are in the playoffs, at some point, our road goes through the Packers. Either in Green Bay or at Levi’s it just feels like these two teams play each other in the post season quite a bit.
I had to look into it. Over the last decade here is how many times we’ve faced the Packers in the post season:
Playoff Year | Playoff Date | Round | Result |
---|---|---|---|
2013 | January 12, 2013 | NFC Divisional Round | 49ers 45, Packers 31 |
2014 | January 5, 2014 | NFC Wild Card Round | 49ers 23, Packers 20 |
2020 | January 19, 2020 | NFC Championship Game | 49ers 37, Packers 20 |
2021 | January 24, 2021 | NFC Championship Game | 49ers 37, Packers 20 |
So, I’m not completely wrong - we’ve faced off 4 times (about to be 5) over the last 10 years. That’s a lot, right?
What scares me is that we’ve won the last 4 times in the playoffs - and the Niners should win this time - but this isn’t an Aaron Rodgers led Packers team. I personally never worried about a Rodgers led Packers team. He’s great but a little over rated based on one SB year and amazing arm talent (Regular Season MVPs don’t mean anything to me). Seriously, what’s he done outside of winning one Super Bowl? Congrats on the ring but that’s not GOAT level.
This Green Bay team easily scares me the most. They’re the youngest playoff team since the merger and they have ZERO to lose. Jordan Love looks like a problem. This has upset written all over it.
If the Niners don’t have too much rust, stop the run, and execute on offense things will be fine.
Prediction: Niners over Packers 36-24 in a closer game than the score indicates.
